Previous guest's experience

EcoXplorer is a traditional Indonesian Phinisi sailing boat, built in 2006 and renovated in 2020, and she has been taking divers around Papua and Maluku since 2022.
She is 31 metres long and takes a maximum of 12 guests in 6 cabins spread over three decks.
The lower deck has 2 deluxe cabins with a double bed and a single bunk, and 2 standard cabins with twin single bunks, while the main deck has a family master cabin with a double bed, twin bunks and a balcony, and the upper deck has a master cabin with a double bed.

Meals are served family style on the main deck, with Indonesian, western and vegetarian dishes and vegan meals with advance notice, four times a day with a light breakfast, a main breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus post dive snacks and self service coffee.
Wine, local beer and soft drinks can be bought on board, and the main deck also has an indoor lounge with a small library, while the upper deck has a terrace and a sun deck for relaxing between dives.

Diving is from a dedicated dive platform on both sides of the main deck, with 2 speedboat tenders for the sites that need them, and there are up to 3 dives a day with one dive guide for every 4 divers and rental equipment available on board.
Divers need to be Open Water certified with 50 logged dives, or 20 logged dives with an upgrade to Advanced Open Water on board, and Nitrox, kayaks and paddle boards are not available.
Routes include the classic Raja Ampat sites, the volcanic Banda Sea, whale sharks in Cenderawasih Bay and the little visited Mapia Islands, and the Raja Ampat Cultural and Culinary Expedition is a snorkelling and island visiting trip with no diving, so it suits non-divers too.
